Day 13: September 12, 2009, Saturday

Laundry day.  My clothes were almost overflowing out of my hamper.  I spent a good three hours washing and drying my clothes.  This time was not wasted, however, because I did not sit in the laundry room and do nothing!  I read "When I was Puerto Rican."  I am enjoying the book so far and can identify with many of the aspects of Esmerelda's life, though other parts I am not familiar with.  I had some problems with the laundry room.  The machine that allows students to pay for the washing and drying machines was turned off.  When I reported this I was told the University did not mantain those machines and I would have to call a number on the machine.  Luckily I had quarters that I could use instead.  I still have not reported this problem and I doubt anyone else has.  I may later this week if I have time.

Day 12: September 11, 2009, Friday

Today was a very rainy day.  I went to two classes at the business school.  I had an hour break in between my classes, but instead of leaving the building and coming back later, I decided to stay and read the New York Times.  I get the newspaper every day, but had not sat down to try to read it fully before.  This time I got very close, and read some very interesting articles.

Day 11: September 10, 2009, Thursday

Today I only had two classes, "Basic Statistics," and "Accounting Principles I."  Afterward I went back to my dorm and didn't do much.  Later, I went to dinner with my roommate and another guy from my floor.  We decided that because we had so many extra meals we would go to the Susquehanna eatery.  I had Chick-fil-A.  It was really good, but after eating dining hall food for a few weeks, I missed the variety of vegetables I would get, compared to the greasy fast food I was eating now.  I spent 3 meals and could not even finish my chicken nuggets.  Still, it was a very good meal.

Day 10: September 9, 2009, Wednesday

Movie night!  I was really excited to see the film, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."  Then it rained.  The person running the outdoor movie informed me that if the rain did not clear up in the next thirty minutes they would not show the movie.  Thirty-minutes!  I can't wait that long!  So my roommate and I went back to our room.  How disappointing!

Day 9: September 8, 2009, Tuesday

Back to school!  I missed not having class!  At least it gives me something to do!  Like more reading.  Actually there were other exciting happenings going on today.  I went to the first meeting of the Financial Management Association and the first meeting of the Wall Street Investment Investor's Club.  This was very enjoyable because I was able to interact with students from the business school who had already taken the courses I am in and the ones I will have to take later.  I also learned a lot about the stock market and the knowledge I will gain about stocks and investing over the next few years.  I also talked to the Portfolio Manager, who manages the money invested in the club's portfolio, which is worth over $40,000 now!  He said he needed a freshman or sophomore who would take over his position when he leaves in two semesters and I might do it!  It would have been nice to take a picture of the meeting, but I forgot my camera.  Here instead is a picture of a meatball sub I had for lunch.

Day 8: September 7, 2009, Monday

It's Labor Day.  In honor of this festive holiday, I am going to not do any labor...I just stayed in my room most of the day and did my remaining homework.  My roommate came home today, so we went to dinner.  The food at the dining hall was good, but I did not finish it.

Day 7: September 6, 2009, Sunday

Lazy sunday.  I went out to lunch with my father and sister today.  My father lives in Ellicott City, MD, which is about 45 minutes from Towson.  My sister drove the car here; she is on her learning permit.  I went downstairs to greet them and signed them in as guests into my building.  I was very happy to see my sister, especially since she was not able to come move me in due to school.  We went to Towson Town Center Mall for lunch.  I had to direct my father on where to go.  Amazingly I was able to find it from only walking there once the weekend before school started.  We ate some Japanese food, which was very appetizing.  I talked to my sister about the musical program at her high school; my previous high school.  They are preforming the musical "Frankenstein: A New Musical" this spring and I was very excited about it, because I had read and really enjoyed the novel.  She told me the cast, even though tryouts were not until December.  She informed me that the choir had figured out which person fit which role already.  I was very excited to hear that a friend of mine was probably going to get the lead role of Victor Frankenstein.  I cannot wait to see it!
